KABANA Design - From Us To You

Kabana Leather - Born from a passion for craftsmanship and sustainability. 

The idea first took shape in 2012 when founder Semhal Guesh, then a university student, transformed leather scraps into beautiful bracelets in her free time. After a few entrepreneurial ventures that didn’t take off, she turned her focus to leather bags and officially launched Kabana in 2017. 

With her background in architecture and love for design, she began creating timeless pieces—initially as a side project while working full-time at an architectural firm. However, everything changed when she hired her first employee and saw the direct impact Kabana had on their livelihood. Inspired by this, Semhal left her job to fully commit to growing the brand.

At Kabana Design, we believe in making a difference. We are deeply committed to empowering women and marginalized groups by providing employment opportunities that create lasting change. Many of our employees come from emergency shelters and refugee camps, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and independence.

Today, 80% of our workforce is women, many of whom are single mothers who have overcome difficult circumstances, including domestic violence. By prioritizing female employment, we aim to bridge the gender gap in the male-dominated manufacturing industry. Our commitment to ethical labor practices ensures that employment is freely chosen, and we strictly hire individuals over the age of 19. Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of our company, welcoming people from all backgrounds, regardless of religion, nationality, social status, or disabilities.

To further support our employees, we have policies in place to help women thrive in the workplace, including professional development programs, maternity leave, and fair wages. We have also established an on-site daycare to assist mothers with young children who lack support at home.
